I Bet You Never Thought About This Watching James Bond

I finally managed to see the new James Bond movie – Spectre last night. I must admit I had low expectations as there was many people (Pierce Brosnan included) saying its too long, doesn’t have a great story line, doesn’t have enough raunchy moments in it etc. but to be fair I thought it was pretty good, maybe it was something to do with my low expectation of going in to it but hey I’ve seen worse things whilst eating my popcorn.

Let’s face it we all love a Bond movie and I’m sure most of you have wanted to be James Bond or be a Bond girl at some point in your lives.

For those of you that haven’t seen Spectre James looks to seek vengeance on the man that was behind the killing of M who happens to lead the global criminal syndicate – Spectre. Whilst watching the film I couldn’t help but think about how much he does, what he overcomes and the lengths he goes to make sure he achieves his mission.

I then related this back to what anyone looking to better themselves has to do.

There are numerous hurdles that you can come up against, you may have to travel the country or indeed travel to other countries, battle with people to get the desired result, have to make sacrifices, the list goes on.

James Bond overcomes every obstacle in his way because he has to as a secret service elitist. The beauty of being 00YOU rather than 007 is you get to choose your missions.

What it comes down to though is having a mission that really makes it worthwhile for you. By you choosing the right mission (goal/vision) there will be no problem too big, no obstacle too high, no allies too far away and you will keep on pushing through no matter what. But identifying the right mission is just the half of it,  you must then take action towards it. A mission that you don’t have your heart in means you probably won’t push through the tough times you probably will give up or even if you don’t you won’t feel fulfilled even if you do achieve it.

Taking action towards that mission is equality important. The easiest way to take action is break the mission down into mini missions or steps so the ultimate mission doesn’t seem as difficult and then start those mini missions NOW! The James Bond movies wouldn’t be what they are if he got his brief from M then sat in MI6 and said I need to do this and I need to do that but I will just sit in the office, go on Facebook for a little while then go and meet my friends down the pub today and I’ll get on to it next week!

Another thing that we can take from James Bond is to write things down. If Ian Fleming had never written about James Bond and kept everything in his mind we wouldn’t have the brilliant films we have today.  It’s the same with your mission. Write it down!

I have given you a few questions you can print out and answer to help you with writing it down. click here for the downloadable sheet or just read below.

  • Do you believe this mission is worth it?
  • If so, how much do you want to achieve it?
  • Being as specific as you can be, what does achieving it look like?
  • What would this mean to you to by achieving it?
  • What is your first mini mission?
  • When will you take it?
  • On a scale of 1-10, how committed are you in taking it?
  • On a scale of 1-10, how confident are you in taking it?
  • If not a 10, what would make it a 10?
  • If this is different from the first step above, do that instead to begin with.
  • What will get in the way of achieving it?
  • What will you do to overcome that?
  • Who can help you?
  • What will you do to gain their help?

If you are not sure what your mission is or should be then look out for make it happen.‘s free seminars starting January 2016 where we will be going over mission setting (goal setting).

So take a bullet out of Britain’s most famous spy’s gun, identify the mission you really want to achieve, make clear mini mission to get there, write it down and make it happen.

Until next time… make it happen.
