Having been the very lucky recipient of the book The Values Factor by Dr John DeMartini.

I would like to thank Will Polston for the opportunity to give a personal review.

What stands out is how thick this book actually is. In my frank opinion, this book isn’t a light read it will require dedication and commitment to unfold its benefits.

As the following chapters will be gradually repetitive with questions to prompt the reader’s thinking. As to list what their values are, and then place them in an order of importance. And so, on again, and again with an unwavering intention to refine what they truly are, and how they change throughout the process will be enlightening. As they will change, I promise I believe you will be surprised what surfaces through discovery – and perhaps more revealing why?.

As well as reading the book, I have tried both the audio of this and found some great insights though when driving.

I do recommend trying both formats. Discover what works when it comes to this kind of study material. I say study material as this could aptly be described as that, a manual with questionnaires. And not as initially thought assuming a book for shelf development just to claim that you have read it. This is a proper personal development tool. It’s treasure if worked through with another person and I solidly reckon this would be of great assistance regarding using it in coaching. As the self-awareness developed from this alone will be massive!

On to the book it delves in to 7 areas of life, with questions designed to prompt discovery of values. It has some very valuable paradigms. I won’t spoil them, I would like you to discover them for yourself.. the smiles will be worth it…

The questions do overlap but for all intents and purposes to positively become consciously aware of what your own personal held values are. You will need to refine your answers again and again to determine your highest values. Which will be done over the chapters.

As is claimed in the book motivation isn’t what you need, it is a goal properly aligned with your values. AS you always achieve check off the most important priorities as these are the ones we assign the most significance to (unconscious or not).

I actually began to enjoy this book and can only start to begin appreciating the incredible focus of the author doing the work.
