5 Things You Must Do Before You Get In The Christmas Spirit
Despite the shops having had the Christmas decorations up for the last month believe it or not we have only just entered December. With 2015 drawing to a close, it’s all too easy for many of us to get caught in the festive spirit and use the excuse ‘oh go on then its Christmas’ a tad too much (I know I do!). By enjoying Christmas from the 1st December (and in some cases earlier) means once we are full of turkey, too much chocolate and recovered from a fortnights worth of hangovers we tend to just focus on the new year and what we can do in it.
But isn’t it as important to take note of the year that has passed?
Here are five questions you may want to ask yourself, including number three, which is tricky:
1. What kind of year has it been for me?
2. Have I achieved what I set out to achieve?
3. Did I know what I wanted to achieve?
4. What has gone well? What hasn’t?
5. What have I learnt?
I’m going to suggest you make some time to answer these questions before you get too wrapped up in the festive spirit, and forget about 2015 so that you maximise the chances of making 2016 your best year yet, a fulfilling year for yourself, however you gauge fulfilment. Write down your responses, so that you can refer to them during 2016 knowing what you had gained and learnt from 2015. This will help you maintain direction and motivation for 2016 – if you like, your answers to the questions are your benchmark to guide you and keep you on track and not make the same mistakes again especially when the going gets tough.
